[BR] Key item for the MZ Generation's new hobby - golfing

Golf, which used to be thought of something exclusive for the older generation in their 40s and 50s, is now very popular among the younger generation as well. It appears that golf has become a ‘hipster’ culture due to the influence of the ‘flexing culture’ (culture of showing off, or flexing, one’s wealth) among people in their 20s and 30s.

As golf is a sport of hitting the ball far and putting it in a hole, the structure of the golf ball is very important. That’s because the distance, spin, feeling at impact, etc. can vary quite a lot depending on the structure of the golf ball.

The golf ball is made up of the core and cover (outer and inner cover). The core serves as the engine of the golf ball and is made by combining BR (Butadiene Rubber), which is a high-performance synthetic rubber with a lot of elasticity, with various chemical substances. BR is lightweight but has high elasticity, giving it great repulsive elasticity, while minimizing distance loss for the golf ball.

BR is a material produced by LG Chem and it is a synthetic polymer material with high elasticity and rigidity. Not only is it corrosion-resistant, but it also possesses superior repulsive elasticity and mechanical features, thus making it a highly functional material commonly used for tires, belts, hoses, and shoes.

It’s quite interesting that various chemical materials are hidden in a variety of sports that we often enjoy without giving much thought about.
