ESG Bonds
For companies conducting global business, managing the supply chain is well beyond purchasing raw materials from verified suppliers. A wider range of suppliers and stakeholders are being connected within the supply chain, thereby increasing the environmental and social risks. We need to comply with laws and regulations in all regions where the supply chain is located, and our suppliers must also adopt and manage strict sustainability standards as we do.
LG Chem’s ESG bond management system has been certified by an independent external professional organization, and it meets government guidelines and the principles of the International Capital Markets Association (ICMA).

Sustainability Bonds
2021
Sustainability Bonds are bonds in KRW where the proceeds will be exclusively applied to finance or re-finance a combination of green and social projects. The categories in accordance with the UN Sustainable Development Goals are selected, and the funds are directed to applicable projects.
The funds raised from sustainability bonds will support environmental projects such as achieving carbon neutrality, building a circular economy, developing electric vehicle battery materials, and controlling air pollutant emissions. In addition, sustainability bonds will also fund social responsibility projects, for instance, financial support to small and medium-sized suppliers for management stability and mutual growth, efforts to prevent industrial accidents, and vaccine development.
