[PC] King of Winter Sports - Skiing! How to Ski Safely

As the weather gets colder, more and more people start thinking about winter sports like skiing.

Skiing is a sport so old that some say its history is as long as that of humanity.

But because many people move at fast speeds in a limited amount of space, it is important to wear protective gear such as helmets and wrist guards.

‘Goggles’ are especially important to wear to protect your eyes from the strong UV rays. Goggles are produced using PC (polycarbonate), which is known for being used in bulletproof materials, and it is lighter, thinner, yet has stronger impact-resistance compared to general-use plastic lens. That is why it does not break easily even when being hit by an object moving at high velocities.

Furthermore, lens made with plastics like acrylic are specially treated to prevent harmful sunrays such as UV rays, but PCs used in goggles have built-in UV blocking functions.

LG Chem also produces PCs.

PCs are an engineering plastic that is receiving attention as a new industrial-use material thanks to its high strength and lighter weight compared to general-use plastics. Bulletproof glass is also made with PC and it is currently being highly used in many areas such as electric/electronic products, automobile parts, and much more.

When shopping for safety gear, make sure to check the material to enjoy skiing while keeping safe.
