Efficacy /Effect
The drug is administered as an adjunct to diet and exercise therapy to improve glycemic control in patients with non-insulin dependent (type 2) diabetes mellitus.
1. The drug is administered as a monotherapy.
2. The drug is administered as a combination therapy in the following cases.
- If metformin monotherapy does not provide sufficient glycemic control, this drug is administered in combination.
- If a patient has not had previous diabetes drug treatment, and monotherapy is not sufficient for glycemic control, this drug is given in combination with metformin.
- If combination therapy of metformin and sulfonylurea does not provide sufficient glycemic control, this drug is administered in combination.
- If insulin therapy (insulin alone or combined with metformin) does not provide sufficient glycemic control, this drug is administered in combination.
