LETZero is a master brand that integrates eco-friendly materials such as 'Recycle products' made from reprocessed waste plastics, 'Bio materials' made from bio-based renewable materials, and 'Biodegradable materials' that can be decomposed by living organisms like bacteria.
We introduce LG Chem’s eco-friendly product line for sustainable environment and future through Product Book.
Our main product lines include recycled (Recycled) materials made of waste plastic, bio materials derived from renewable plant-based materials, and biodegradable materials that can be decomposed by living organisms like bacteria.
With LETZero, LG Chem will embark on our journey toward zero for a better future of humanity.
LG Chem has developed Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) materials by collecting, pulverizing, and sorting discarded plastics used by end consumers with LG Chem’s proprietary technology. We also produce circular materials by chemically recycling plastic film and composite plastic that are discarded. LG Chem’s PCR material reproduces the quality equivalent to virgin plastic. We have successfully produced PCR plastics that are transparent or close to pure white that require a high level of technical difficulty. Various eco-friendly certifications for these products are available upon customer request. This use of waste plastics reduces carbon emissions through sustainable waste disposal and the production of fewer energy products.
Manufacturing Process
Mechanical Recycling
After collection, plastic wastes are classified by type. Once the impurities are removed by cleaning and sorting, the plastic waste is recycled through the regeneration process. LG Chem combines high-quality recycled materials and other materials to produce virgin-quality recycled plastics. LG Chem provides certification for PCR content from eco-friendly certification bodies such as UL ECV (Environmental Claims Validations), TUV (Technical Inspection Association in Germany), and GRS (Global Recycled Standard) upon customer request.
PCR ABS
Electric/electronic products, automobiles, construction materials, other general goods
Waste vinyl and composite plastics, which are difficult to recycle mechanically, produce pyrolysis oil at the raw material level (naphtha) through chemical recycling (pyrolysis). It is used in the manufacturing of chemical recycling products by replacing the raw materials in the existing fossil fuel-based processes. Because the pyrolysis oil-based raw material does not change the physical properties of the final product, it can be applied to all products. ISCC Plus (Circular Economy) certification for these products can be provided upon customer request. The chemical recycling technologies above allow us to reduce carbon footprint during product manufacturing and dispose of waste in a sustainable way.
LG Chem produces a variety of products using renewable plant-based materials. We apply the biomass balance technology to incorporate plant-based materials, which uses less fossil fuels and contributes to the reduction of carbon emissions. As of April 2024, LG Chem became the first to acquire the ISCC PLUS certification in Korea for the entire process, from purchase to production and sales performance of 61 eco-friendly products, including SAP (super absorbent polymer), PO (polyolefin), ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene), and PVC (polyvinyl chloride). We are also developing polyamide, polyester, and thermoplastic elastomer products using ingredients extracted from plant-based materials.
Bio-Circular Balanced (BCB) products
We are able to utilize the existing petrochemical production infrastructure by incorporating bio materials from renewable plant-based oils into fossil fuel-based raw materials. Our plants are also capable of eco-friendly production using renewable energy such as solar and hydropower.
